Karate
Karate is a Japanese martial art built around linear strikes, efficient body mechanics, and disciplined technique. Its foundation lies in strong stances, crisp hand strikes, powerful kicks, and controlled breathing. Besides the physical side, Karate places heavy emphasis on respect, etiquette, and developing character through training.
Competition takes two main forms: Kata and Kumite. Kata competitions judge athletes on their execution of pre-arranged forms that display technical mastery, rhythm, and strength. Kumite is a controlled sparring format using WKF rules, where athletes score points for clean, controlled strikes delivered with precision and intent. Matches are tactical, requiring distance control, timing, and sharp counters. Competitors are grouped by age, belt level, or skill classification, allowing both beginners and advanced practitioners to compete fairly.
